Update your BeAScout pin, so prospective families can find you.

Today’s families can do just about anything online. From ordering groceries, buying school supplies, or purchasing movies tickets. Today’s parents want, and expect to learn about the BSA, find a local Scouting unit near them, and have the ability to sign up online as well.

BeAScout.org is the website for prospective members to find those units near them and the ability to join online. It is the first thing many prospective Scouting families see about the BSA, and it tells them what Scouting is, why it’s a good fit for their family.

We need your assistance to update your unit’s listing on BeAScout.org. Families need only to visit BeAScout.org, they can enter their zip code to find all the Scout units near them. These results show up as pins, with each representing a pack, troop or crew nearby.

If your unit is one of those pins, you want that prospective Scout parent to have a direct line of communication to you. That way you can tell them all about how awesome Pack 123 is or what makes Troop 456 so great.

There’s just one problem: some units haven’t updated their pins, meaning there’s an extra obstacle between you and a new member of your unit.

Updating your pin is easy, and it’s well worth your time. Check out this simple steps to update your pin. Also, follow these simple steps if your unit will be full family (girls).

Beaumont Merit Badge Selection is Open!

New this summer, you can now pre-select the Merit Badges and activities for each Scout attending Boy Scout Resident Camp at Beaumont! The Registration Contact can pick Merit Badges for each Scout. Alternatively, you can allow Scouts or parents to select activities by using the Parent Portal.

These selections are not final, but will give us a good idea of popularity for classes, and give you the ability to print off schedules for each Scout.

Since this is new in 2018, here are some tips to help you make selections as easily as possible:

  • Review the Merit Badge Schedule prior to selection opening. The schedule can be found in the Leader's Guide or Appendix B, both of which are on the attachments section of the registration page.
  •  Starting 8AM on Sunday, April 15th, enter your registration portal and click on the Attendess tab.

  • hoose classes until the Scout's schedule is full.
  • As you select classes for a period, only classes in the Scout's remaining open periods will be available.
  • Repeat for each Scout.

You can make changes to your Scouts' merit badges as needed, and see which classes are most popular using the Class Attendee Counts report in the Attachments section on the registration page.

ote that you can print out schedules and blue cards for your Unit as a group using the Reporting button near the top of the page, or for an individual Scout. This should help you to keep track of where your Scouts are during their week, and you can give each Scout their own schedule!

The Early Bird rate deadline is coming up! Campers must be paid in full by May 18th to receive the reduced price. Remember, you can make your payment online using a card or using your Unit's checking account with an e-check.

Questions? Here's a guide to registration, or you can contact the Camp Director at philip.wiliams@scouting.org.

Thank you and see you this summer!

Introducing Scout's Own Maple Syrup

Scout's Own Bottle.png

The Lake Erie Council is excited to introduce the Scout’s Own Maple Syrup program, a new funding opportunity for units!

The Scout’s Own Maple Syrup program started as an idea to utilize our camp's natural resources to create a way for Scouts to fund their outdoor adventures.

Sap harvested from over 7,000 trees at Beaumont Scout Reservation is processed at Bissell Maple Farm to become Scout's Own Maple Syrup.

This spring, Scouts and units have the opportunity to sell Scout's Own Maple Syrup for $12 a bottle to fund their adventures. The unit receives $5 from each bottle sold. You can make an order by the case to get your sale started with the button below!

For more information contact Phil Williams: Philip.Williams@scouting.org.
