The Unit Scouter Award

The Unit Scouter Award is an honor bestowed on a registered adult volunteer Scouter who has made a distinguished impact on youth members through outstanding service given at the unit level.

The award is presented annually by the Lake Erie Council in the same manner as the Division Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award. What distinguishes it from other bestowed honors is that recipients are recognized for service to Cub Scout packs, Scouts BSA troops, Venturing Crews, or Sea Scout ships.

Nominees must be adult volunteer Scouters who render noteworthy service to youth members in Scouting through a traditional unit. The nature and value of such service may consist of sustained results delivered over a long period of time or a single project, plan or decision impacting many youths over a shorter time.

Nomination forms are due by December 15.

Ben Hauserman Good Scout Award

The Ben Hauserman Good Scout Award is named after a distinguished and long serving Council Executive Board member, Council President and National BSA volunteer. Ben was a recipient of the Silver Beaver and Silver Buffalo Award.  It is a local award that recognizes an outstanding volunteer who over many years has provided untiring service in the name of Scouting for our council. This is often a Scouter who goes about doing their job not for the recognition, but because it is the right thing to do.

Venturing Leadership Award

To recognize Venturers and Venturing Advisors who have made exceptional contributions to Venturing and who exemplify the Scout Oath and Law, Lake Erie Council may present individuals with the Venturing Leadership Award.  Nominations are due by December 15.

Nominees must be:

  • Registered and involved as a Venturer or Venturing advisor for at least one year.

  • Hold a leadership position or an office at the unit, district, council, territory, or national level (as appropriate for the level of the award presented).

  • Show exceptional dedication and give outstanding leadership and service to Venturing and to Venturers (on the level appropriate for the award).

Council Duty to God

The Council Duty to God Award was created to recognize registered Scouters who have demonstrated an exemplary history of transformational leadership in supporting and promoting the spiritual foundation of Scouting at the local Council level. It acknowledges the unswerving dedication to faith, fellowship, and service of those whose character embodies the moral principles and shared ideals of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA).

The award distinguishes Scouters who selflessly work to prepare youth for life by perpetuating the merit and legacy of a Scout's duty to their Creator. Nominations are open to candidates from all faiths and religious groups.

Nomination are due by December 15th.
