Lake Erie Council offers our Scouts two fantastic properties to camp, hike, swim, and play. Keeping up these properties is hard work and our ranger crew works tirelessly to make sure that these camps are ready for when you arrive.

Our camp rangers can’t do it alone, however. Volunteers give countless hours to improve our properties for our Scouts and their families. If you have specialized skills, know folks who do, or just have a drive to contribute back to the properties that make Scouting activities possible, we need you. We are looking for volunteers who have experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, small motor repair, diesel or engine repair, truck maintenance, gardening/landscaping, and painting. If you are interested in helping but aren’t sure how you can help we can find a project for you.

We are also always looking for new and used working equipment, tools, vehicles, and materials. So whether you are upgrading equipment or your vehicles at home, or you have some extra tool sets that you are looking to part with, we can find a use for it in making camp better.

If you are interested in sponsoring a project or purchasing materials for a project at camp, below are some items we can always use.

  • Picnic table - $150

  • Pavilion roofing - $3,500

  • 3/4 ton truck - $45,000

  • Zero Turn Lawn Mower - $12,500

  • Brush hog - $1,300

  • Pavilion Solar Lights - $1,500

  • Culverts - $700 each

The Over the Hill Gang

Every Thursday at Firelands Scout Reservation

The Over the Hill Gang meets weekly at Firelands Scout Reservation to provide service to camp. Whether in the wood shop making signs, on tractors cutting grass, or any of the various other things getting done around camp, Over the Hill Gang members seek to make Firelands Scout Reservation a more wonderful place to attend. Most of the Over the Hill Gang members are retired from their careers, but see this Thursday routine as their way of giving back to the community. You are not required to be retired to join. The Over the Hill Gang has given countless hours to bettering Firelands Scout Reservation. Contact the Camp Ranger, Danny Thomas, for more information.
