LEC 3 Minute Update - July 20, 2023

Mornin’, all! I’m not Tyler Matthews, and I’m back from the Pacific Coast. And yes, I actually came back! This week, I come to you from the hills of Dolly Sodds, West Virginia. Shoutout to the Urbans on the East Side for sharing this beautiful picture with me! They recommend the trails, and you can learn more about the location here

Alrighty, in This week’s three minute update we have: activities updates, training updates, service updates, and notes regarding Ohio’s ACE program.

A friendly reminder that family dens are officially here to stay! Cub leaders can learn more at this link, if you didn’t catch it last week.

Moving on to Cub Scout activities, you can still register for our Fishing Derby, Rocket Day, Lake Erie Crushers, Lake County Captains, and a Silver Screen Overnighter. Sign up now and check the council calendar for further information!

Also, Cub Haunted is quickly approaching in October for Cubs and families to participate! Troops’ help is also greatly appreciated. Troops, keep an eye out for details regarding fall camporees as well!

Scouting for Food is coming up next month. We encourage units to take part in this service project. Units can request door hangers and patches at this link. Contact Michelle if you have any questions.

The Annual Ride for Scouting is your best opportunity to give back to Scouting while enjoying a scenic ride on your motorcycle. Register here, and send your questions to Jason Setser

And now, another note about the ACE program. This is a reimbursement system for families to be able to offer more activities for their children. Scouting membership fees and SOME activities DO qualify for reimbursement through ACE. You and your Scouting families should apply here to see if you’re eligible. We will share more information at our Membership Growth and Product Sale Trainings. Email Mike your questions.

And a quick note about these trainings: it is best to send two representatives from your Pack, Troop, or Crew, as the Product Sale portion will be discussed at the same time as the Membership portion. If you can’t bring two, register for a second session after attending, and hop onto zoom to stay in the know!

Questions about training? For Range Safety Officer Training and Rangemaster Training, email Julia Hearne. For the August and September sessions of BALOO training and Scoutmaster Basic Training, you can contact me.

Additionally, the Lake Erie Council is proud to bring back in-person trainings for your positions! You can register now and send Jake any questions. You can also tell Jake if you’re interested in being a trainer for these courses.

Lastly, The FEST is August 6 at the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe. The Catholic Committee on Scouting is looking for Scouts and Scouters to help with Cub Scout activities and take part in the mass procession and communion. Contact Tony for more details.

And that’s a wrap for this week’s three-minute update! Thanks for all you do and thanks for being you! I’ll see you next week, take care!
