LEC 3 Minute Update – January 20, 2022

This week, we have: Cleveland and Firelands Scout Shop updates, Silver Beaver Award recognition, Roundtable, the Beanie hat sale, and upcoming Summer Camp Leaders' Meetings.

Virtual Roundtable is tonight at 7pm, go to the council calendar to get the zoom link!

The Cleveland Scout Shop has 30% off select sleeping gear, stop in and see what's for sale, from January 24th thru the 30th.

The Firelands Trading Post has everything you need for Blue and Gold Banquets, so head on over and stock up! Also, if the weather is bad, make sure you call ahead to confirm they are open!

And now its time to model the latest in Lake Erie Council fashion, look at this beanie: its thick, it fits a big head like mine, and its hilarious, just like me! Get 'em, while supplies last at Klondikes for $15 a piece. Contact Noah.Boksansky@scouting.org if you'd like to order one.

The first leaders' meeting for Beaumont Resident camp will be next Tuesday, January 25th, at the Unit Service Center in Cleveland. Please register and bring a mask. There's a zoom option that Wednesday as well, check the calendar for details and contact Anthony.Dworning@scouting.org with any questions. Registered and prospective troops are both welcome.

And lastly, let's make sure we continue this new year right with some volunteer recognition. This week, it's my honor and privilege to announce the names of the 2022 class of Silver Beaver recipients. This is the highest award a Council is able to bestow on a volunteer, and it highlights their exceptional service to Scouting here, in the LEC. And now, the Silver Beaver awards go to:

Larry Andrews

Laurie Bott

Mike Sabeh

James Durdak

David Galletti

Dale McFarland, Jr.

and Ed Mozdzen

If you know of these folks, send them a congratulatory text, email, or call. Or shout them out on Facebook when you get the chance. To all the recipients, know the Scouting movement is better for your time and effort.

Next week, we will announce the Lake Erie Council Unit Scouter Award recipients. And in the following weeks, we wish to continue recognizing great achievements, big and small, at the unit level. Had a patrol successfully use the patrol method at a Klondike for the first time ever? Let's give 'em a shoutout! Had a den leader go above and beyond the call of duty to make their den the best it can be? Let us know! Simply email me at jacob.brown@scouting.org with who we are recognizing and why. Applicable pictures or videos are also welcome! Let's share our wins together, Lake Erie Council! And who knows, maybe sometime soon, these folks will make it to Silver Beaver status?

And that's a wrap this week: thanks for all you do, and thanks for being you! We'll see ya next time!
