LEC 3 Minute Update - April 20, 2023

Mornin’, all! And welcome to this week’s three minute update, I’m Jake Brown, coming to you from New York City. It feels like 2016 all over again, and all I have to say is LET’S GO CAVS!!! WOOO! Bring the Land home something beautiful!

Ok, here’s what’s new in this week’s three minute-update: Training updates, Cub Scout Activities, Camporees, service opportunities, and Summer Camp job openings, and an important upcoming webinar from National.

First, we need 24 more people in uniform to join us at the Cleveland Marathon to help cheer on runners and pass out water! Michelle and Tyler don’t want to be the only Scouters present, so sign up to help out now! Send Tyler Matthews your questions.

Other service opportunities for all units include Scouts Trash the Trash Day and Beaver Day at Firelands! Troops can Register for Beaver Day here, and contact Danny with your questions. Cub Packs MUST contact Danny BEFORE registering to make sure there are age-appropriate projects available.

Additionally, for adults 21 and over, Wilderness Engineers at Beaumont is upcoming this May. If you’re interested in helping, contact Chris and register here.

ILST and NYLT registrations are still open! Dave Sechnick and Jen Folkman can your questionsabout the courses. In addition, if your NYLT participants aren’t able to attend the May ILST session, but you want some helpful resources in providing the course at the unit level, also email Dave!

LEC is offering EDGE trainingmobile rock wall training, and Archery Level 1 Training(Archery for Scouts BSA members) over the next few weeks. Check out the Council calendar, and register now!

In addition, note that the Council is also hosting its first ever Council-Registered Unit Representative Training on Saturday, June 3rd. This course will certify COR’s of units chartered to the Lake Erie Council (known as a CRUR). It is also open to Key 3 members of Council-Registered Units, so they can get a more detailed look at how the Council engages in chartering its units. Lastly, this course is also open to those interested in learning more about the concept of Council-Registered Units. If you have any questions about this course, contact me!

Also, LEC has Membership and Product Sales trainings on the calendar now! Join us in-person or virtually this July, and learn what changes from last year you need to know, in addition to the basics you may need. Register now!

Troop Camporees are only a couple weekends away! Beaumont’s Spring Camporee is the last weekend of April: contact Rob Burnham for questions. Firelands’ Camporee is in May, and Jess Weaver is your contact there.

Cub Scouts: register now for the Swings’n’Things Overnighter, along with the LEC Pinewood Derby Grand Championship, the Tough Cubber, S’More Cub Adventures, and a Crushers’ Campout to fill your calendars with! Sign up for these and easily put the outing in Scouting nowfor your Cubs!
