LEC 3 Minute Update - April 13, 2023

Mornin’, all! And welcome to this week’s three minute update’m Jake Brown, and I hope y’all have been able to take advantage of this beautiful weather! Yes indeed, I’ve been looking forward to being at the beach for some time now, and it’s finally warm enough to start working on my summer tan.

Now, you may be wondering how I was able to pull off this physique in time for this week’s three minute update, and so I’ll let you in on a little secret, what I think is going to be a top fad in 2023 – using a green screen!! Let me tell ya folks, it works every time!

Moving on! This week, here’s what you need to know:

Here’s what’s new in this week’s three minute-update: Camperships, Training updates, Cub Scout Activities, Camporees, and service opportunities, and Summer Camp job openings, and an important upcoming webinar from National.

Campership Application deadlines are upcoming! NYLT Campership Applications are due April 15th, and Wood Badge Campership applications are due May 1st. Send Phil Williams any questions you have.

ILST and NYLT registrations are still open! Dave Sechnick and  Jen Folkman can your questions about the courses. In addition, if your NYLT participants aren’t able to attend the May ILST session, but you want some helpful resources in providing the course at the unit level, also email Dave!

LEC is offering EDGE training, mobile rock wall training, and Archery Level 1 Training (Archery for Scouts BSA members) over the next few weeks. Check out the Council calendar, and register now!

A quick note about mobile climbing wall policies: unit reservations will now require two trained facilitators to use them, and mobile climbing wall training certification needs to be renewed annually. As we continue to strive to make the walls safer, and in an effort to equipment in as good of condition for as long as possible, these polices will be the norm moving forward with the mobile rock walls. Contact Mike Zeber if you have any questions.

In addition, note that the Council is also hosting its first ever Council-Registered Unit Representative Training on Saturday, June 3rd. This course will certify COR’s of units chartered to the Lake Erie Council (known as a CRUR). It is also open to Key 3 members of Council-Registered Units, so they can get a more detailed look at how the Council engages in chartering its units. Lastly, this course is also open to those interested in learning more about the concept of Council-Registered Units. If you have any questions about this course, contact me

Also, check out the trainings on the Council calendar for Membership Growth best practices and product sale ins and outs for this fall. This isn’t your usual fall kickoff, so make sure to come on by and learn the very latest in resources to make your recruitment drive and product sale successful AND efficient!
