Newly-elected OA members can complete their ordeal, and current OA members can complete their brotherhood, at this year’s summer induction “Salute to service” weekend at Beaumont from August 20-22nd. I have many gifts and talents, and OA Olympic competitions just aren’t one of them. So you’re guaranteed to place better than me! Questions? Send them to Lodge Adviser Sean Fahnestock. Pardon me, I’m getting a call. Hey Glen, good and you? Am I free on a weekend in August? No, not this year. What about 2022? Yeah? Ok, let’s schedule that BBQ then. Tell Amanda I says hi. Okay, bye!
Sorry about that, ok!
Speaking of the 75th, did you know that all registrants will receive 3 meals on Saturday, plus a great day of program, midways and fireworks, PLUS a commemorative guidebook, PLUS a T-shirt!? Total registration fees are $50, and the deadline is August 1st! Questions about registration? Contact Noah Boksansky.
And of course there will be further commemorative swag, patches, and other goodies available, also, so be prepared! Ask Noah about swag questions.

Now, if there’s one thing that’s going right with the world today: it’s that Trail’s End has added chocolate covered pretzels to the mix of the popcorn sale! God bless America! Make sure your unit is registered online with Trails’ End. Questions? Shoot ‘em to Kallee.
And lastly, we’ve got one last thing to cover: recruitment. Fall recruitment is quickly approaching, and our Service and Growth Team has some upcoming zoom meetings that Cubmasters, Committee Chairs, and den leaders should be a part of. You know, when we talk about recruitment, I think it’s important to discuss this. We as a movement have weathered bankruptcy, and covid at a national level, let alone our Council’s restructuring and other unit-based challenges. Our membership has shrunk a lot, it’s true. But we’re still here. We’re still getting ready for popcorn sales and campouts and recruitment drives. We do it because while all of us are here today, we won’t be forever. And because the positive impact of our movement deserves to reach as many youth as possible.
When you go out into the community supporting Scouting, the public may try to ask you about questions you don’t have the answers to. We, the Council, are here to help with that. But you are the expert of Scouting as it pertains to your unit, and your community. Do be prepared to talk about that. Be prepared to share how all your leaders have taken Youth Protection Training, and how all of the adults follow these guidelines to keep your Scouts safe. Be prepared to share how Scouting has affected the lives of your kids, bringing them out of their shells, building their confidence, teaching them teamwork. Be prepared to speak about how no Scout is left behind thanks to the budgeting process, using fundraisers throughout the year to guarantee opportunities to everyone in the Pack.
If you’re not yet prepared to speak about these things, reach out to Member Care. Let us know what questions you have, where your confusions still are. We’re here to help.
Thanks for all you do, and thanks for being you! Keep the flame burning bright, and we’ll see you next week on the 3-minute update.
