3-Minute Update - April 25, 2024

Hey everyone! I’m Tyler Matthews coming to you from Kelly’s Island where we will have 150 scouts working to clean up this beautiful beach this weekend! Nothin like a little beach clean up to get you in the summer spirit. Now, lets get in to this weeks news.

First, a quick update to the change in membership fees. The new price of $85 for youth and $65 for adults will now be taking place on May 1st, instead of April 1st as previously announced. However, the $25 new member is no longer in effect.

Wood Badge registration is still open, and spots are filling up! Sign up quickly to reserve your spot.

ILST, or Intro To Leadership Skills for troops, is a training for youth scouts with leadership roles in their units, and it is happening May 18th at Beaumont Scout Reservation. There are only a few spots left, so get signed up today!

NYLT registration is also now open. Register today!

The Cleveland Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting would like to invite all adults involved in Catholic Scouting to the “Called By The Spirit” retreat happening on April 27th, from 9am-5pm at the St. Albert the Great Parish in North Royalton. $5.00 registration fee will be collected at the door, breakfast and lunch will be provided.

May 4th is Trash the Trash day. This year we are partnering with Canalway Partners for their Riversweep initiative. Units can sign up to participate at one of our partner’s locations or they can set up a cleanup in their own communities. The link to register is on the council calendar, as is the link to purchase patches. May the 4th be with you as you trash the trash! Contact Chelsea with questions.

Firelands Beaver Day is May 11th, register today and you can send any questions to either Danny Thomasor Jess Weaver.

May 13th is this years Stewards of Firelands event! Please help us with your pledge of membership. Become a steward by pledging your $100 tax deductible donation towards our pot from which we will spend on important improvements for our Scouts at Firelands. Send your question to Jess Weaver.

There are 2 Women in Scouting events coming up! Register today to join in on April 26th in Fairview Park or May 3rd in Mayfield and send your questions to Chelsea.

While I know it may not feel like it, the summer weather is right around the corner, and you know what that means…. S’MORE CUB ADVENTURES! Registration is open for weekend 1 and weekend 2, but this year we’re also adding 2 new weekends! July 12th-15th is S’more Webelos adventures, specifically designed for Webelos and AOL’s, as well as Scout BSA S’mores August 2nd- 5th where troops can come to earn merit badges and experience all the fun of Summer camp. There is an exciting opportunity to head to Seabase! Crew 461 is heading down this summer for a fishing adventure and is in need of 1 more scout but can take up to 3. For more information, contact the unit

The Bratenahl Community center is looking for scouts to march in their Memorial Day parade. Call Mike with any questions.

Lastly, the National Day of Prayer is May 2nd. It’ll be held at the Orchard Hills Reservation in the Geauga Park District. All Scouts, regardless of denomination or faith are invited to join, as we will be reading from different texts of sacred faiths.
