LEC 3 Minute Update - July 8, 2022

Mornin’, all! And thanks for tuning in to this week’s three minute update. I’m Jake Brown, and we're at Beaumont Scout Reservation this week! Anthony graciously agreed to return as the Executive Producer for this week, which means I'm already getting yelled at for being longer than 3 minutes in this update! So this week we have:

Updates to SBSA rank requirements, Upcoming summer activities for Cub Scouts, National Jamboree, Non-Unit Registration Renewal Reminders, and Popcorn/Recruitment Kickoff Reminders.

It's not too late to register for the 2023 National Jamboree. Register now by clicking this link, and send your questions to Philip.Williams@scouting.org.

There are still 3 Popcorn and Recruitment Fall Kickoffs upcoming in the Lake Erie Council. The next one is July 21st at Firelands, followed by July 26th at Beaumont, and August 3rd at the Unit Service Center. Register for these now by following this link.

Also, your unit should register for the popcorn sale! Even if the unit isn't planning on participating, registering for the sake of a youth's online sales is important. Do so by following this link: send Heather.McMillan@scouting.org your questions.

Non-Unit Registrations are due to be completed before July 31st. Register your position by following this link. If you have to pay for this registration because it is your primary registration, do so by following this link. Send David.Madigan@scouting.org your questions.

This summer is still packed full of fun for our Cub Scouts! It's not too late to register for S'more Cub Adventures, as well as campouts with the Lake Erie Crushers and Captains, Rocket Day, Scouting for Food, and a Fall Cub Overnighter at Firelands September 10th. Check out the council calendar if you want any further information.

There are some changes coming to SBSA rank requirements. In the words of National, these "minor modifications" were made to bring the requirements more in line with the principles and ethics of Leave No Trace and the Outdoor Code. They go into effect on August 1st. Here is a link to see the newest requirement language.

Lastly, the Wolf'em Stick is the featured item of the Cleveland Scout Shop for the month of July. Allow me to try to put some drama behind this promo: "Never before has the likes of mankind seen such a useful and helpful camping tool. Fire will change from a novelty cooking concept to your primary camp cooking method with the new, improved, and ingenius: Wolf'em stick." And I want that company to know my voice here is copywritten, that'll be a hundred bucks, payable to the Lake Erie Council, to use this clip! Follow the Cleveland Scout Shop on Facebook or stop in today to learn all about it!

And that's a wrap for this week's three minute update! Thanks for all you do and thanks for being youu! We'll see you next time!
