How to Choose-Your-Own-Adventure this Summer

Since you really can “choose-your-own-adventure” this summer at Adventure Camp, here’s a quick explainer of the different options offered, and how they compare to camps of the past few years:

  1. Day Camp: If you’ve attended Adventure Camp the last few years in Lake Erie Council, this is the experience of the Day Camp option. Five days of program, Monday-Friday from 8:30am (check-in) to 4:30pm (check-out). Campers are split into dens of their grade level and participate in advancement requirements for their ranks, and favorite camp activities. No overnights.

  2. Overnight Camp: If you’ve attended Cub Scout Resident Camp in the past, this will be similar to the overnight option. Overnight Camp runs from Wednesday afternoon through Saturday mid-day. Campers stay overnight in campsites with their parents or Pack, and you can bring your own tents or use ours. During the day, campers will participate alongside the day campers, but the evening is full of specialty programs and activities like campfires, camp-wide games, and the chance to prove themselves as members of the Tribe of A’chawi.

  3. Full Week Camper: If your Scout get enough of camp life (or you really want them outside all week), they’ll love the full week camper option. Full week campers start on Monday as Day Campers, but then stay overnight starting Wednesday evening as overnight campers. They get the full experience of both programs!

That sounds awesome! But what about adults?
Adults can choose their own adventure too! We love for parents to experience camp alongside their Scouts.

  1. Day Camp: Adults can attend camp with their Scouts as participants and enjoy the great activities that we offer. If you want volunteer as a leader of the camp program, we accept adult volunteers as well. Volunteer your time in a program area all week, and you’ll earn back your adult camper fee.

  2. Overnight Camp: Adults are needed to satisfy leadership requirements for overnight camp, so those campers need to stay with their parent or Pack in the campsite. Your Pack will have a campsite as a home base, or if you’re attending without your Pack you’ll be combined with other small groups to form a provisional Pack for the week.

  3. Full Week Camper: Adults can stay all week at camp too! Or, if it works better for your Scouts to attend as a full week camper, but the adults come in just for the overnight camp portions, that works as well!
