LEC 3 Minute Update – March 3, 2022

Mornin’, all! Jake Brown here with your 3 minute update from Beaumont Scout Reservation, because that’s where Anthony left the teleprompter. Behind me, you can see the Scout’s Own Sugar Bush Sap Collection System. Fascinating, right? Okay, let’s dive right in:

This week we have: Roundtable Updates, the NYLT/WB Scholarship Breakfast, Scout Shop Updates, Camp Staff Updates, Training and Event reminders, and this week’s fun fact.

Last call to register for the NYLT/WB Scholarship Breakfast! It’s going to be a great time to catch up with old friends, support scholarships for those who need it to attend these great training programs, and eat some mighty fine breakfast. Contact Linda.Gray@scouting.org with any questions.

Now time for this week's fun fact: what's the best vehicle for watching movies? ATV!

Oh, I love that one! And speaking of ATV's, this is for all ATV enthusiasts 21 years of age or older: YOU can change lives this summer by showing Scouts and Scouters the safe, appropriate way to run ATV’s at Beaumont Scout Reservation. In fact, you can get paid to ride these week after week? Serious inquiries should go to Anthony.Dworning@scouting.org.

Roundtable continues next week in Berea and Firelands, and is followed up with the Mayfield and virtual options next week! Check the council calendar for details.

Were you scrolling facebook just before this update? To be clear, please don’t tell me what you were scrolling through. But the next time you’re on facebook, be sure to like and follow the Cleveland Scout Shop and the Firelands Trading Post and Scout Store. Both locations will highlight upcoming sales and swingin’ deals! In fact, the Cleveland Scout Shop has 25% off select camping gear through March 26th, so stop in today!

A friendly reminder that SM Basic Training is April 8-10: contact Pat O'Leary with questions (phobsa@att.net). BALOO Training is April 22-24, contact Rebecca Setty with questions (rebecca.setty@gmail.com) Both of these trainings will be at Firelands.

Are you interested in being a Camp Host? If so, head on over to the Lake Lodge at Firelands, on the Wynadot side, on April 23rd from noon to 3 for training. Register online, and contact Rich Geyser with any questions (rgeyser@frontier.com).

Don't forget about the upcoming Camporees at Beaumont, April 22-24, and Firelands, May 13-15th. Contact Anthony.Dworning@scouting.org with questions.

And for the Cubs: there's a Webelos Spring Challenge at Beaumont happening simultaneously with the Camporee (and that's a great recruitment tool for Troops, just sayin'.)

And the Tough Cubber series is upcoming May 6th-8th at Firelands, and May 13th-15th at Beaumont. Sign up today, and contact Rob Boehm (rboehmfam@gmail.com).
