Hey everyone! I’m Tyler Matthews coming to you from Tappan Square in Oberlin, where this weekend they will have their annual illumination as part of their college commencement weekend. The whole square is lit up with over 1300 Japanese lanterns, and features music, food, art, and more! Take some time to check it out! With that, let’s get into this week’s news.
Let’s start with the most exciting news of the week! Beaumont and Firelands are getting new beds! It is the end of the road for the World War II era army cots! No more waking up like a taco! Through a generous donation from Case Western Reserve University, we will be receiving college dormitory furniture to significantly upgrade our cabins on both properties. However, to make this big upgrade happen, we need a lot of help! We are assembling as large a group as possible to help us empty 4 dormitories on Case Western Reserve campus on Thursday, May 30 (and possibly Friday, May 31). In addition to beds and mattresses, we will also be loading some dressers, desks, and desk chairs. Lunch will be provided and there will be plenty of water on hand. If you or anyone else you know can help us on either or both days, please sign up at THIS LINK
