Hey everyone! I’m Tyler Matthews coming to you from Progressive field, where this week our beloved Cleveland Guardians have come home to open up the 2024 season! Go Guards! Alright, let’s get into the rest of this week’s news:
First, a quick update to the change in membership fees. The new price of $85 for youth and $65 for adults will now be taking place on May 1st, instead of April 1st as previously announced. However, the $25 new member is no longer in effect as of April 1st.
Wood Badge registration is open! Early bird registration is open until June 2nd, and the deadline for campership applications is May 15th. Sign up today to secure your seat on the Starship Gilwell!
NYLT registration is also now open. Early bird pricing ends April 29th, and campership applications are due April 15th!
The Youth Resilience Summit is upcoming on April 19th. This summit will have presentations from top experts in fields like suicide prevention, mental health, special needs strategies, working collaboratively with law enforcement, online safety, bullying, financial literacy, and workforce development. It will also include breakfast and lunch all at NO CHARGE due to the generosity of donors! Please help us by sharing this with everyone you know! Register now.
There’s a Beaumont Spring Camporee the last weekend of April.
April 26th- 28th there is a service and camping opportunity on Kelley’s Island! Lake Erie Council is partnering with ODNR for a cleanup effort at the Lake Erie islands. Troops can arrive Friday night and stay until Sunday. Packs are welcome to join for the day on Saturday. Patches are included in the registration and units are responsible for their own ferry transportation. Contact Chelsea with any questions.
The Cleveland Diocese Catholic Committee on Scouting would like to invite all adults involved in Catholic Scouting to the “Called By The Spirit” retreat happening on April 27th, from 9am-5pm at the St. Albert the Great Parish in North Royalton. $5.00 registration fee will be collected at the door, breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Tough Cubbers are in May!
Wilderness Engineers is coming in May, and unlike years past, now you only have to be 18 to volunteer to do some hearty work to keep camp operating smooth and looking fresh! If you’d like to volunteer, or know of someone who should, please register and contact Chris Fortunato.
May 4th is Trash the Trash day. This year we are partnering with Canalway Partners for their Riversweep initiative. Units can sign up to participate at one of our partner’s locations or they can set up a cleanup in their own communities. There are 2 Women in Scouting events coming up. Whether you’re a seasoned leader or just starting your journey, these events offer a unique opportunity to network with fellow trailblazers, share experiences, and gain valuable insights to elevate your impact within the scouting community. While I know it may not feel like it, the summer weather is right around the corner, and you know what that means…. S’MORE CUB ADVENTURES! Registration is open for weekend 1 and weekend 2, but this year we’re also adding 2 new weekends! July 12th-15th is S’more Webelos adventures, specifically designed for Webelos and AOL’s, as well as Scout BSA S’mores August 2nd- 5th where troops can come to earn merit badges and experience all the fun of Summer camp.
