LEC Staffing Changes

The Lake Erie Council is excited to make two major staffing announcements. Congratulations to Jim Vanderpool who will take on the role as activities director for Scouts BSA and Family Camping. Jim started his career with the Boy Scouts of America in August of 2014 with the Heart of Ohio Council. He served as the district executive (DE) for the Great Frontier district for 3 1/2 years making him the longest-serving DE in that district since 1994. Jim has grown Cub Scouting in his district now service area for the past two years.

Jim earned his Eagle Scout rank in 1986 from Troop 307 in Lorain. Jim has championed many events while serving as a District and Unit Serving Executive. He is also involved in his community, having served as the Lorain Rotary Club President in 2017-2018.

Jim is excited to take on the role of activities director where he feels he can make a positive impact in the quality of our events and activities. Please congratulate Jim on this promotion.

We are also excited to announce our new service area one unit serving executive, Jake Brown. Many of you may know Jake from our mobile climbing wall specialist. Jake isn't new to Scouting. He earned his Eagle Scout Award in 2014 from the Great Trail Council. He joined the Lake Erie Council family in January 2018 as the spring communications intern. He spent his summer serving on camp staff at all three of our properties as a multi-media specialist and continued his run with the council as our program specialist.

Before joining LEC he served as an area director at Pioneer Scout Reservation. He also served as the president of the Catholic Student Association at University Parish Newman Center and has helped with many events at Camp Stigwandish. Jake is a graduate of Kent State University and is excited to take on this new role with the Lake Erie Council.
