Do you have an interest in facilitating COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) and Climbing events for your Unit or helping at council events? Take our introductory Level 1 course to “learn the ropes” of our COPE Courses and Climbing Towers. No climbing expertise is necessary, but a basic understanding of climbing knots and technique will help you to get started!
You must be 18 years old to receive the full certification, but if you’re at least 16 years old, you can earn an Instructor-in-Training certification, and still serve as supervision for events.
Ready for more? By taking our Climbing Level 2 Instructor Course, you'll head out to the real rock faces to gain in-depth knowledge and practical skills for evaluating climbing sites, setting anchors, and running a safe program for your Unit. You must be at least 21 years of age to take Level 2 Instructor Training, and have already completed the Level 1 introductory course.
Level 1 Training is at Firelands Scout Reservation the weekend of April 26-28, 2019
Level 2 Training is the following weekend at Whipps Ledges, from May 3-5, 2019
