SCOUTBOOK: Den Leader Experience

Gone are the days of juggling den leader guides and other hard-copy resources. Now it’s all right here in Scoutbook! From organizing meetings for the year, to preparing for the next meeting, to tracking attendance and advancement. You can even communicate with parents of absent Scouts about what their kids need to do at home to get caught up.

To use this feature, your Cubmaster, Committee Chair, or COR must set up your unit’s SCOUTBOOK account and assign you to a den.

Engaging New Families

Successful dens tend to have at least 5 youth members. If you den currently has fewer than 5 Scouts, don’t wait for your Cubmaster or Committee Chair to hold a pack recruitment. As a Den Leader, you should take ownership of your den’s membership.

  • When your den does something exciting, share the details in a local Community Group or Facebook Page

  • Make sure your pack has a public Facebook page so you can share all the fun things the Scouts in your den are doing. Don’t expect people to know your den exists, show them!

  • Encourage Scouts to invite their friends to join. More Scouts = More Fun

  • Work with pack leadership to update and monitor BeAScout.org. Instructions on how to update your information can be found here.

  • Parents are your best recruiters. Encourage them to invite families to join an upcoming activity.
